Why Mom Win Moments
One day I was talking to a friend and they were saying how terrible they feel as a Mom. She was saying how she went somewhere and forgot pretty much everything she needed to take care of her child. I asked her what she forgot and it was only one thing. I had done way worse and had forgotten more than she had. As she talked, I thought about how I had a decision to make. I could either allow her mistakes to make me feel bad and share how I too was horrible OR I could use my stories to encourage her. I could frame what felt like failure in a winning way. I decided to take the second path.
As women and Moms we have so many moments… happy, sad, grateful, terrible, joyful, and sorrowful. There are moments we want to remember forever and many we wish we could forget. It is human nature to remember the bad better and to hold on to what we aren’t but don’t you just HATE that? I do! That is not God’s way and it shouldn’t be ours. If God works all things together for our good, then why can’t we turn our moments that seem like we’re losing into a win? When we lost our baby, I wanted to kick the devil in the face with something but I didn’t know what. This is it!
With our children, we show them how to frame their moments into something that makes them better. When we are teaching them to read and they feel like they can’t do it. We show them that their hard work and desire to learn is so important in life. We cheer them on when they make tiny progress. As women and especially as Moms, we don’t celebrate the small victories and see what we are becoming in the hard times. It is so much easier to see it for our children and in other people but when it comes to our beauty, our body, our mindfulness, our learning, our pace, our progress, and all the roles we play in life we beat ourselves up.
If you heard someone else say, “I hate myself’ it would break your heart but many times that is the way we treat ourself. So… STOP IT.
I am committed to this… to what… to me… to you… and especially to who God created us to be. This is a place of hope, of faith, and of trusting Jesus to get us through it ALL. If His ways and thoughts are higher, which I believe they are. Then, He can see from a different and higher vantage point than we can. He created us to win and He uses everything if we will let Him.
I hope you will comment when I post to let me know you read it, how you were encouraged, or just to say you’re on the journey with me. If you see a typo… i’m not an english teacher. Just love me through it. ;)
So, here we go… let’s win together.
